New documentary on The Slits, one of punk’s most important all-female bands

Lore has it that the Slits were formed at a Clash gig. No one involved knew the first thing about being in a band, but such was the spirit of 1976 in the UK. As one of the first–perhaps even THE first–all female-punk band, they were an inspiration to countless women.

There’s now a documentary on the band entitled Here to be Heard. Check out the trailer. The only Canadian theatrical screening (ahead, presumably, of life on Netflix) will be at the Royal Theatre in Toronto on May 14.
