This is My New Favourite Music Website: The Weirdest Band in the World”

Andy and Jake, a couple of guys with the appreciation for the strange and absurd, maintain a site called Weirdest Band in the World. They’re fascinated with artists who are determined to be unique, whether they become successful or not. And rather than make fun of these musicians, WBitW treats them with respect and awe.

Their definition of “weird” is pretty broad. There are stories devoted to GWAR (definitely non-mainstream) to The KLF (solidly successful, but with an unconventional attitude towards pop culture) to BABYMETAL (they rule!). It gets even more fun when you did into some of the darker corners of the site. For example:

Mac Sabbath, the McDonalds Characters Black Sabbath Cover Band

Computer Jesus Refrigerator

Autopsy Report of Drowned Shrimp

Rancid Penguin Molestation

Virgin Turtle Whore

If you’re in need of distraction, please check it out. Newbies should start with The Weird 100.

  • Do you know what happened to WBitW? It looks like someone took over their website. Did they lose the domain?

  • Nope. Unfortunately, the creator of that website shut it down. He wants to work on newer projects.
