New Music from the Inbox, 01 May 2013: Hey Marseilles, Military Arcade, Soapbox Army and More

By Larry Lootsteen

Artist: Hey Marseilles, “Bright Stars Burning”

Album: Lines We Trace

Album just out.  Love the sound of this Seattle band…

Sounds like:  Death Cab For Cutie  [Yep.  – AC]

Artist: Military Arcade, “Viva La Revolution”

Album: Single

I used these guys before and this punk explosion and great video just said ‘do it again’!  So I am!

Sounds like:  The 1960s meets the late 1970s in the 2010s

Artist: Soapbox Army, “Woke Up”

Album: Reactor

An interesting collection of music.  Worth checking out for sure!

Sounds like:  Quiet angst

Artist: Stuck On Planet Earth, “Better”

Album: Single

This Canadian band has a great sound with that dark edge I love.  This song comes out May 1st.

Sounds like:  A vapor cloud covering your eyes is slowly clearing

Artist: Achromatic Attic, “Animal”

Album: Glassy Sweeper

Let’s travel to Croatia for a moment.  These guys have an eclectic sound that is a lovely mess of multiple eras and styles.

Sounds like:  Cowbell! Was that cowbell?

Artist: Annie Mall, “Foxhole”

Album: Heavy Feathers

Great indie band from Helsinki.  A bit of a hard rock sound but with that indie flare.

Sounds like:  Grungy rock punch
