New Music From The Inbox 24 June 2013 : Small Black, Temples, Cold Blood Club, The Treasures, & Melting Pot

By Juliette Jagger

Artist: Small Black “No Stranger”
Album:
Limits of Desire
The perfect balance of soaring synths and deep but infectiously bouncy bass, “No Stranger” by Small Black is the kind of song that’ll make you want to throw your arms open and let your head hang back, while you whirl around in endless circles.

Sounds like: Going with your gut.

Artist: Temples “Shelter Song”
Album:
“Shelter Song” / “Colours To Life” 7”
All the very best of twangy telecaster guitars and colourful 60’s psychedelia.

Sounds like: Get over it quickly, cause this is a really solid song whether you wana like it or not.

Artist: Cold Blood Club “Goodbye To All That”
Album:
Single
Brooklyn’s Cold Blood Club is an enduring and infectious blend of soul, pop and electro-dance grooves.

Sounds like: LCD Soundsystem, Metric and New Order

Artist: The Treasures “Warning Sign”
Album:
Bring The Night Home
There is a classic warmness about Toronto’s The Treasures that recalls acts such as Crosby Stills Nash and Young and even The Band.

Sounds like: Tempered Southern sadness.

Artist: Melting Pot “Sneaking Into Heaven”
Album:
Single
Ew-wee, this one hurts so good.

Sounds like: Real raggedy kind-of love.

Damn. Really loved the Small Black and Temples tracks. Cold Blood Club was pretty cool too but might take me another listen or two.
