By Larry Lootsteen

Artist: Ice Chrystalls, “Stronger”

Album: N/A

From what sounds like the lovely Clacton On Sea, there’s a rawness that appeals to me.

Sounds like:  A conversation in song…

Artist: lost cassettes , “Beat Motel”

Album: N/A

Fantastic punk sounds blowing out of the north of England…

Sounds like:  Exactly what it is!

Artist: The Meaning of Life, “Laura V”

Album: Play Fuego

Absolutely stunned by this band.  Awesome voice and sound!!

Sounds like:  Capturing a feeling in a moment of time

Artist: Miracle Falls, “Well, I Guess”

Album: Debasement Tapes

A cross-country journey from Portland to NY.  Paul Dillon (ex Mercury Rev & others) leads this effort and features members of The Dandy Warhols, Mercury Rev, BJM and The Warlocks.

Sounds like:  A phone call from the 80’s to today

Artist: Grooms, “I Think We’re Alone Now”

Album: Infinity Caller

Brooklyn based foursome – album out Sept 3rd.

Sounds like:  A bit of indie-pop sensibility

Grooms – “I Think We’re Alone Now” from stereogum on Vimeo.

Artist: Summer Aviation, “Magic Night

Album: Elevator

Husband and wife team but not quite the Seattle sound you’d expect!!

Sounds like:  Old school meets a new day
