Artist: Arctic Lake
Song: Fool
EP: How Do You Make It Look So Easy

Emma Foster, the vocalist of London based alt-pop duo Arctic Lake, explains the meaning behind their new song Fool: “One of my best friends was in a really volatile relationship; over the space of two years I watched her slowly disintegrate. She was worn down by it. I think it’s something a lot of us have experienced and that irrational excusing of the bad is something that is hard to see when you’re in it. So ‘Fool’ was born and I love it. Micah and Paul transformed it into a song that makes you want to move, it’s chaotic but there’s power and lightness. Now that my friend is on the other side of it and everyone I know is, it makes the whole thing a complete picture.”

Artist: Sing Leaf
Song: Blizzard Island
Album: Remote Hotel

This hazy, laid back tune is the first release from the upcoming Sing Leaf (aka Canadian artist David Como) album, out on October 13! About the single, Sing Leaf says, “There was a show I had seen as a child containing some of these things. This show so tied into my feelings of the early days of memory, hard to separate what images my own, what came from television. When I would describe it to other people, no one could remember a show like that. Tunneling through Youtube as a grown man, I found it again. A show called “Blizzard Island”, aired on the CBC, only lasted 12 episodes. Watched it over, some of the memories were there, some were not. Made me wonder again how much of my self-story shaped by shows and movies I’ve consumed over the years. How much have I edited my memories to fit a familiar arc, how much have I spliced together. So the song about the show but also some lost love of my own. The settings and characters from my life and the screen blending together in thick, damp fog.”

Vocalist Sally Shaar explains: “When I’m on tour, I get to surround myself with the most accepting and welcoming people on earth. I feel so heard, so supported. ‘Hear Me Out’ explores how difficult it is for me to live without that outlet.”
