New Music From The Inbox: Familiar Wild, Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas, The Virgins, Caravan Palace, & Fake Club

By Juliette Jagger

Artist: Familiar Wild “Oregon”
Album:
Single
There is a beautiful warm sweetness about Familiar Wild’s “Oregon” that draws you in on the immense possibility that something might escape you.

Sounds like:

Stopping the earthquake.

Artist: Jessica Hernandez & The Deltas “Dead Brains”
Album:
Single
Let’s see, this is a really well written song and a really great example of how independent artists today can showcase their raw talent (if they’ve got it) for absolutely peanuts.

Sounds like: More people should be so lucky as to be able to carry a tune like this while drivin’ a car.

Artist: The Virgins “Blue Lights” (Oddly Enough)
Album:
Previously Unreleased Track
There isn’t a whole lot to this song and yet every component manages to hit hard enough to make you want to put your neck into and do it with a little grit.

Sounds like: Simply put.

Artist: Caravan Palace “Beatophone” (Club Mix)
Album:
Panic
Where there’s a party to be had, Caravan Palace is bringing the beat, the swingin’ 30’s and a victrola.

Sounds like: Caravan Palace is genre unto itself – Electro Swing, what else?

Artist: Fake Club “Beauty Queen”
Album:
Single
Fake Club is London’s raunchy rock, all female, Arctic Monkeys.

Sounds like: Your ass on the run.
