New Music From The Inbox – Monday Edition! (Oct 18, 2021): Stromae, Wilderado, Fayiaz and The Wasted Chances, and more!
Every week, we’re sent dozens if not hundreds of promotional emails from agents, PR firms, and hopeful artists containing the latest releases from around the world. From the biggest superstars to the ambitious self-starters we comb through it all to highlight to you what we’ve been digging, the tunes that caught our eye, and the recommended selections that make the notifications worth it. This is New Music From The Inbox!
Artist: Stromae
Song: “Santé”
Album/EP: Single
Don’t worry about the extended hiatus – Stromae is stepping right back into the beat with a triumphant return in “Santé”. Chirping and whistling melodies, bright and fluttering mandolin, and Stromae’s broad, warm vocal tones all feature in this worldly europop tune. And good thing there’s plenty of Belgian-Quebecois French overlap!
Watch/Listen:
Artist: Wilderado
Song: “The Worst of It”
Album/EP: Wilderado
Warm and gently churning alt that makes its impact felt in swelling and ebbing waves, “The Worst of It” is an embracing single from Wilderado’s debut self-titled debut. Guitars broil and build amongst simmering vocals and encompassing production that blurs the line between contributions and moods, a positively effacing meld yielding this cohesively shifting offering.
Watch/Listen:
Artist: Faiyaz and The Wasted Chances
Song: “Antisocial”
Album/EP: Single
Absolutely rollicking DIY alt/punk with a blistering touch of old-school rock ‘n roll, up-and-coming Torontonian group Faiyaz and The Wasted Chance do not waste this chance to make an impression. Wailing drums, crunching guitars, and impassioned vocals (eventually howls) take a careening dive into the abrasive depths of nervous energy available in each performer’s instrument before the song’s up.
Watch/Listen:
Artist: Tigers & Flies
Song: “Bat & Ball”
Album/EP: Among Everything Else
Swinging and ever-so-slightly off-kilter blues rock with big band swagger to spare, “Bat & Ball” is an engaging offer from Brighton’s Tigers & Flies. Plenty of brass features abound in this carousing tune that peters out into a calming comedown.
