Artist: Quiet Hollers “Material Girl”
Madonna Cover
From Louisville, Kentucky’s the Quiet Hollers, this fantastic barebones rendition of Madonna’s “Material Girl,” comes at the pop classic from a very different angle. Regarding the cover, lead singer/songwriter Shadwick Wilde said, “My first reaction was horror… as I instinctively recoil from so-called “pop” music. But the lyrics are so fucking sad, and the theme so apropos for an unknown band trying to raise some cash – I had to take an honest crack at it.

Artist: Apollo LTD “What Are You Waiting For”
“What Are You Waiting For” from Apollo LTD, is a red hot, dope-as-fuck pop gem. If you appreciate a good Maroon 5 track, you’ll love these guys.

Artist: Earthside “Mob Mentality” (featuring Lajon Witherspoon of Sevendust)
Album: A Dream In Static

Off of their debut album, A Dream In Static, “Mob Mentality” from New England creative collective Earthside displays a wild stylistic diversity that is interwoven with elements of both progressive rock and metal while set to a backdrop of sweeping orchestral movements. Very Trans Siberian Orchestra.

Artist: Surfer Blood “Feast – Famine”
1000 Palms

Surfer Blood’s “Feast – Famine,” off of their third LP, 1000 Palms, encapsulates everything this West Palm Beach quartet does best: jangly, wistful, self-reflective indie pop.

Artist: Pounded By The Surf “Cowboys N Indians”
No Waves

Off of their debut album No Waves, “Cowboys N Indians” from instrumental outfit Pounded By The Surf resides somewhere along the road between Hollywood and Chino and bathes in iconography as far fetching as Spaghetti Westerns and Beach Blanket Bingo.
