New Music From The Inbox: Saidah Baba Talibah, Lower, SIRSY, Caged Animals, & City Society

By Juliette Jagger

Artist: Saidah Baba Talibah “High”
Album:
Single
“High” delves into a kind of fleshy rawness reserved for skinned knees. It’s exposed, it throbs, and it longs for relief.

Sounds like:

Jonsing

Artist: Lower “Another Life”
Album:
Single
Lower have the same brash intensity that was synonymous with 80’s punk, but they pair it with booming drums and moody, melodic guitars.

Sounds like:  Check out Lower during NXNE 2013 Sunday, June 16th @ The Garrison, 11 pm.

Artist: SIRSY “Lionheart”
Album:
Coming Into Fame
The “go ahead I dare you” attitude of this song is undeniable.

Sounds like: Drivin’ pop rock with total sass.

Artist: Caged Animals “Cindy + Me”
Album:
Eat Their Own
“Cindy + Me” is a quirky and tempered tale about the kind of shit you’ll do for love. Plus the video features baboons and the lyrics are really well written.

Sounds like: An acquired taste, but give this one a chance!

Artist: City Society “Speaking of You”
Album:
Self-Titled
City Society is a blend of classical musicianship, poignant vocals, and dreamy electronic beats.

Sounds like: Everything in slow motion.
