Artist: RL Grime Ft. Miguel
Song: “Stay For It”
Album/EP: Single

“Stay For It” is hands down the best combined representation of what these two do best––deep, dark beats and raw, bedroom R&B.

Artist: Ms. White
Song: “Full Grown”
Album/EP: Jade

“Full Grown” is the latest offering from NYC-based jazz-pop artist Ms. White. The track, which is a straight up groove-heavy affair, will appear on her forthcoming EP Jade due out in September, and is both a critique of the male-centric music industry and a fierce declaration of her own womanhood.

Artist: Benjamin Muñoz
Song: “Fear and Its Variants”
Album/EP: Single

Born out of reflections on our innate defenses against fear, anxiety, and depression, “Fear and Its Variants” from Canadian producer Benjamin Muñoz is as comfortably disjointed as the feelings it’s fighting. Like being lost down a black hole, this track swings back and forth between dark passages of emotional turmoil and brief flashes of momentary bliss.

Artist: EXES
Song: “Cain”
Album/EP: The Art of Saying Goodbye

Venice Beach-based duo EXES has returned with a deeply personal new single entitled, “Cain.” Vocalist Allie McDonald explains the track, and it’s heavy:

“Cain was my muse–my inspiration–my first love. Although we were thousand of miles apart, we somehow found each other years ago. Our virtual relationship was composed purely of poems, songs, words, emails. I was never able to touch or meet Cain–he passed away in 2015. 6 months after his death, in what felt like a movie, I flew to England to meet his friends and family. This song is about that night I spent with his mom and best friend drinking champagne and dancing until the sun came up–reminiscing on a love that almost and will always be.”
