Artist: The Mae Trio
Song: “Well Enough Alone”
Album/EP: Take Care Take Cover
Melbourne’s The Mae Trio has returned with a foot stompin’ new single entitled, “Well Enough Alone.” Off of their forthcoming sophomore effort, Take Care Take Cover, which is due out on May 26th, the track pulses with the pluck of every banjo string and seems to suggest an ominous sense of melancholy whenever the violin wails.

Artist: Twin Bandit
Song: “Everything Under The Sun”
Album/EP: Full Circle
A medley of vintage country twang, sweet, jangly folk-pop storytelling, and simple poignant lyricism, “Everything Under The Sun” from Twin Bandit is the sort of neat little package that is destined for the airwaves.

Artist: Basement Revolver
Song: “Johnny Pt. 2”
Album/EP: Agatha
Off of their forthcoming sophomore EP, Agatha, “Johnny Pt. 2” from Basement Revolver picks up the heartbreak where 2016’s “Johnny” left off. Sonically, the track begins from a very quiet, enclosed place that pairs quite nicely with the band’s shoegazey sound, but then unexpectedly blooms and takes off soaring into a haze of pensive “ew, ew, ew, ews”.

Artist: Cool American
Song: “Maui’s”
Album/EP: Infinite Hiatus
Off of their forthcoming debut full-length album, Infinite Hiatus, “Maui’s” from Portland-based band Cool American are equal parts slacker rock and power pop punk, which for me, resonates on an oddly warm and comfortable level.

Artist: CORTES
Song: “Blame It On Me”
Album/EP: Single
UK rock outfit CORTES are about to hit the road with Nothing But Thieves, which seems like a solid fit, and I’ve gotta say I am pretty into these guys. It’s like they split the difference between Danko Jones and Death From Above 1979.
