Peter points to this Dangerous Minds article on mysterious sounds that defy any kind of explanation, many of which come from the deep ocean.

For example, scientists call this one The Bloop.

No idea what this might be, although certain people among us believe H..P. Lovecraft’s fictional sunken city of R’lyeh, where the creature known as Cthulhu lies “dead but dreaming.”

Sure. Let’s go with that.

And then there’s The Hum. Surely you’ve heard of this.
