From Now On, February 20 Will Be “Kurt Cobain Day” (Plus Rock and Roll Hall of Fame News)

Were Kurt still alive, he’d turn 47 on February 20.  That’s the day his hometown of Aberdeen, Washington, will declare the date to be “Kurt Cobain Day.”  Here’s a quote from mayor Bill Simpson:  “Aberdeen residents may justifiably take pride in the role our community played in the life of Kurt Cobain and the international recognition our community has gained from its connections with Kurt Cobain and his artistic achievements.”

If things go well, the event could be extended from one day to one week.

Meanwhile, Nirvana will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in April.  The question some have been asking is “Will Courtney Love be onstage with the band to accept the honour?”  She told me she fully intends to be there.  She even showed me a shot of the dress she plans to wear (I’m no fashion expert, but I thought it was very elegant).

“Hashtag Yoko,” she said.

This will be interesting.

  • Terrible. Courtney has absolutely no business being there with Chris, Dave and Pat. Even Chad Channing deserved to be there more than Courtney. And I say that as kind of a fan of Courtney, still her having been Kurt’s wife doesn’t entitle her to be up there with the other guys.
