NXNE Announces 2023 Full Showcasing Artist Lineup

[A preview by Elisa F. G. – AC]

Circa 1995 when NXNE (North By Northeast) was in its infancy, did anyone really understand the importance of the shift that was taking place in music? As per usual ‘retrospect’ (in this case 20 years of it) is the only time when standing back from hard work is necessary, the rest of the time by all means keep your head down, chin up, keep going, and all that jazz but at some point arrive at ‘retrospect,’ it’s how we notice the changes, see the growth, measure the distance and effects of what’s been achieved. It’s not as if by the second day of working hard we know if we’re wasting our time or not, we have to keep at it!

Looking back over the past 20 years, NXNE has undoubtedly shifted the stakes and helped kick down doors for emerging artists to walk through. The nations most vital music festival returns June 13th – 18th 2023, once again granting passage to new artists on the brink of their big break. Discovering fresh talent, and providing the space for artists to perform has been NXNE’s MO since the start, and because of platforms like NXNE we’ve seen some familiar names hit their stage in the past – Lizzo, Lumineers, The Arkells, Billy Talent, Beaches just to name a few. This year over 300 acts are being sprinkled over Toronto from June 13th-18th, with more than 20 live music venues offering up their seats and stages. Festival tickets go for only $25 giving music fans 5 nights worth of shows or $15 for a one-night-one-venue type deal.

“We are extremely fortunate to be able to program the top 300 acts from the thousands of applications we have received from around the world to give NXNE fans a week of the best-of-the-best in new music,” says Michael Hollett NXNE founder, “We’ve got top talent in all major genres, I encourage people to try something totally new in addition to seeking out future stars in their favourite style of music.”

In the heart of Toronto’s live music district (a beat all its own) is where you’ll find NX HQ festival headquarters, located at It’s OK – 468 Queen Street West. The local hot spot will serve as the central hub for both artists and festival goers. Having just announced the full artist lineup for NXNE 2023, the city of Toronto is mic checked and prepped to come alive with the sound of music, panels, parties, performances and probably a few late nights.
