NXNE is this Weekend!
Yesterday NXNE Portlands kicked off with an awesome first day with great artists.
Although it was overcast for most of the evening, the weather held out and eventually cleared up. It wasn’t as busy as I expected it, but that didn’t make the experience any less enjoyable.
One thing I really enjoyed was the representation of great Toronto talent: Ferraro, EMP, and Cold Specks. I also enjoyed the fun and upbeat music of LA band the Regrettes and the unique noise pop of Sleigh Bells. Headliner Post Malone was a huge crowd pleaser, even if his set started a little late, which he apologized for.
NXNE also features non-musical attractions. The stand-up comedy tent drew in a good sized crowd, as did the carnival games and rides. If you’re a fan of European sports cars, festival partner Porsche brought three cars for festival-goers to look at, as well as an interactive booth. If you forgot to do your make-up, a Sephora booth is there to help. Finally, of course there’s plenty to eat and drink. Budweiser, Fireball, and Pop Shoppe hard soda have booths set up and some of Toronto’s best food trucks are on location.
I expect today and tomorrow to be busier and a ton of fun. I’m looking forward to both headliners, Kaytranada (tonight) and Passion Pit (tomorrow), seeing Yukon Blonde on Sunday evening, and checking out the up and coming artists.
