Oh, To Be in London for Record Store Day

Another Record Store Day will soon be upon us (April 20) and I’d love to be able to spend it on Berwick Street in London.

In case you don’t know, Berwick is a street stretching from Oxford down into Soho and is home to plenty of record stores (including Sister Ray, one of my favourites).  And even if you’ve never been to London, you might recognize it.

This is a shot looking southwards down Berwick from the corner of a street called “Noel.”  And that Indian restaurant serves from brilliant lamb korma.

The merchants of Berwick are banding together for a series of special Record Store Day events.  This includes live music, DJs, in-store parties, a record show and lots of food.  Maybe I gotta go…

  • One of my favourite places in the known universe.

You know that scene from The Simpsons episode where Mr. Burns sells the the power plant to the Germans, and said Germans explain to Homer that they "come from the land of chocolate" and Homer fantasizes about said Land Of Chocolate? That's how I feel traveling up Berwick St., cross-crossing my way from one end to the other, eyes wide, prancing like Barishnikov, finally ending at the flagship HMV.
    Magical.
