One Direction is Charging HOW MUCH for Concert Tickets?

Are concert tickets getting more expensive? Duh.  This is from CBNC:

The average price to see the first [One Direction] show on U.S. soil was $674, good only for the 23rd most expensive music show of the summer. But One Direction also has the top show of the summer, $1,417 on July 4 in Montreal.

JEEZUS!  And there’s more.

Three One Direction shows have an average price of over $1,000 and nine have an average price above $750.

When you factor in merchandise and concessions, you’ll be lucky to escape your local arena with anything left to retire on. Of course, this is all lost on the young, for whom this is a moment and band like no other.

I’m glad I don’t have a daughter. And thank God for Kid Rock.  To see what I mean, read on.

Meanwhile, here’s a hand infographic put together by the people at Neomammalian Studios in the UK entitled “Are You the Ultimate Fan of One Direction?”  Click on the image to see the entire thing.

  • That is disgusting…gouging at it's finest.

  • I'm taking my 9-year old to see KISS in a couple of weeks. Excellent seats are less than $200 for the pair, including all fees.

And I'll guarantee the show is bigger and more memorable.

My daughter is 6 and she likes 1D. I'd be scared of prices to take her, but by the time she's old enough to start going to concerts, they'll be long broken up.

  • This is just not true. For example, the tickets for the Montreal Bell Center show on July 4th, tickets ranged from $47.50- $109 at the time of original sale. The prices above are the prices if tickets being resold on sites like stubhub.com, most likely by scalpers. The it whole tour sold out in moments, which allows scalpers to charge insane prices. Nothing new in the world of ticket sales these days, I'm afraid.

  • I don't really like defending One Direction but these are NOT the regular ticket prices. Just a little bit of research shows that tickets range anywhere from $25-$100, which is hardly unreasonable in today's market. Even the VIP tickets top out at $350. All in all a very misleading article
