Ongoing Daily: Pearl Jam and the doomed submersible Titan

In June 2023, the submersible Titan imploded on a deep-sea trip to explore the Titanic. Built by a company called OceanGate, the accident killed CEO Stockton Rush and four paying passengers when the hull of the Titan could no longer handle the pressure of the ocean.

Earlier this year, a documentary exposing everything that happened revealed that OceanGate was exploring various ideas of how to bring more attention to the company. One of the pitches was to invite Pearl Jam to go on some kind of voyage aboard the Titan so they could make a video promoting the company.

It never happened, of course, but it’s wild that there a connection between this ocean disaster and Pearl Jam.
