Ongoing History Daily: Billie Joe’s early, early, early, EARLY recording career

Question: How long has Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong been recording music? He’s 49 now. The answer is 44 years. When he was just five years old, Billie had this gig where he’d go around singing for senior citizens at retirement homes. He was so cute.

The owners of a music store where he and his sisters took music lessons agreed. They helped facilitate the making of a record called “Love for Love” on a long-forgotten indie label. The b-side is also interesting because it features Billie Joe’s first-ever interview. Again, this is 1977.

Thanks to the internet, you can call up five-year-old Billie anytime you want.
