Ongoing History Daily: Billy Corgan facts

Even though he’s been around for more than 30 years, here are a few things that you might not know about Billy Corgan and The Smashing Pumpkins.

(1) He is a fan of antique stores and loves to collect interesting and weird old items. Art deco things are the best.

(2) He also loves to connect vintage synthesizers because those sounds are so hard to reproduce. Best go right to the source.

(3) He’s the co-owner of Madame Zuzu’s Chocolate Pu-erth Tea, a tea shop in Highland Park, Illinois, which is where he’s lived for the past 20 years.

And (4) he paid out of his own pocket to a hacker to keep him from leaking nine songs from the Pumpkins ATUM album six months early. The hacker was eventually tracked down with the help of the FBI. Turns out this guy had files he’d stolen from other big-name artists, too.
