Ongoing History Daily: Cage the Elephant facts

Here are a few things about Cage the Elephant that may have escaped your attention until now.

(1) In elementary school, singer Matt Schulz was in a band called Left Nostril. The real pre-cursor to Cage the Elephant was a high school band featuring three members called Perfect Confusion.

(2) When the band played Lollapalooza in Chicago, their opening act was a new singer by the name of Lady Gaga.

(3) In 2001, when the band was, touring with the Foo Fighters, drummer Jared Champion suffered a burst appendix, requiring him to miss several shows. So who filled in? Dave Grohl.

And (4) Matt is a serious chess player. He’ll play anyone.

If you missed yesterday’s post, you can read about that special time Marilyn Manson once had in Salt Lake City here.
