Ongoing History Daily: Damon’s dog

When you sell millions of albums, there are untold ways to spend your money: big house, fancy cars, travel, guitars, drugs.  But not Damon Albarn of Blur.

Shortly after the Parklife album became a hit in the mid-90s, Damon went off and bought a racing dog. He was the part-owner (one of eight, actually) of a greyhound named Honest Guv. He picked up Honest Guv when he was about two years old and was a fine specimen, winning his very first race.

For a while, he raced most Saturdays at Walthamstow Dog Stadium in London. Once a week, Damon would trade Brit-pop for his Britpup. (Sorry about that.)
