Ongoing History Daily: Flea’s concert injuries

When you jump around onstage as much as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, you’re bound to get hurt. Anthony Kiedis, for example, has had to endure busted up knees and ankles over the years. Meanwhile, Flea has learned to give Anthony a wide berth.

On one occasion, Anthony was swinging around a microphone and Flea got clocked in the head, knocking him out. Flea has also suffered some self-inflicted injuries. He somehow manages to hit himself in the face with his bass. He sports a scar on his head when he cut himself open and bled all over the place. He used to do backflips onstage, too, but he didn’t always land them properly.

That hurt. Flea doesn’t do that anymore.
