Ongoing History Daily: Franz Ferdinand facts

Here are some things you might not know about Franz Ferdinand:

(1) Singer Alex Kapranos met guitarist Nick McCarthy at a party where Nick kept stealing Alex’s drinks. Alex was going to bust Nick in the face, but they got to talking about music and things sorted themselves out.

(2) This is a band that got a late, late start. Alex Kapranos was in his early 30s by the time Franz Ferdinand was formed and started gigging and recording.

And (3) Nick McCarthy grew up in Germany where he took formal music training at a conservatory in Munich. His best instruments are the piano and the upright acoustic bass.

If you missed Friday’s Ongoing History Daily post, it had something to do with The Cure.
