Ongoing History Daily: Kings of Leon Save Their Dad
The story of the Followill boys from Kings of Leon travelling with mom and dad preachin’ all over the US south has been told a bunch of times.
Ivan Followill was a Pentecostal preacher dedicated to saving souls. But Ivan’s drinking eventually got the better of him and his was eventually defrocked and divorced from Betty Ann. He became estranged from his sons, too. He lived in Oklahoma working as a part-time house painter and really not doing so well. By December, after a really bad binge, he knew he needed help but was too proud to ask his sons for money for rehab.
In the end, though, the brothers staged an intervention and paid for their father’s treatment at a facility in California.
