Ongoing History Daily: Krist Novoselic and the Art of TV-Tossing

One of the big rock’n’roll cliches of being on tour is throwing a TV out of a hotel room window.

When Nirvana was at its peak, bass player Krist Novoselic was determined to follow through with this fine tradition. But he was going to do it right. First, he called down to the front desk and told them what he was about to do, securing permission from the hotel. He then paid for the TV he was about to toss. And to make sure that no one got hurt, he got hotel security to clear the area under his hotel’s room.

Only then, with a little help from tour mate Kelley Deal of The Breeders, did he toss the TV out the window. Not exactly the old-school way of doing things, but he did fulfill a lifelong dream in the most responsible way possible.
