Ongoing History Daily: Mark Hoppus’ memoir

If you’re looking for some music-related summer reading, Mark Hoppus of Blink-182 has a new memoir entitled Fahrenheit-182 that’s pretty revealing. Not only does it tell the story of the band and Mark’s battle with cancer, he also discusses the group’s stalker problem.

About 25 years ago, a fan started parking her car outside the homes of each of the band members. She’d sit there with binoculars and a camera with a long telephoto lens, making notes in a journal. The woman wasn’t breaking any laws, but it was deeply creepy and uncomfortable for everyone involved.

Hoppus later moved to a gated house so he wouldn’t have to deal with her anymore.
