Ongoing History of New Music

Ongoing History Daily: RHCP facts

Some miscellaneous facts about the Red Hot Chili Peppers.

(1) When he was a kid, singer Anthony Kiedis had some gigs as an actor.  You can see him playing Sylvester Stallone’s son for all of six seconds in a 1978 movie called F.I.S.T.  He was about 14 at the time.

(2) Flea is a rabid fan of the LA Lakers.  He even wrote for a blog on the team at NBA.com.

(3) Chad Smith, the drummer, is a hockey fan.  He played a lot of minor hockey growing up in Detroit.  He was the goalie.

And (4) John Frusciante used to be a hopeless heroin addict.  It got so bad that he lost all his teeth, something that look more than $70,000 to fix.  (Yeah, you heard me: 70 grand on dental work.)  The good news is that John is healthy today.  He meditates and runs every day.

Who invented rock? That was the subject of yesterday’s post.
