Ongoing History Daily: Rick Rubin facts

Rick Rubin is one of the most successful record producers in the world today. He’s made records with everyone from the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Audioslave to Johnny Cash and Shakira. Here are some facts about the guy:

(1) He got his start in the music business at age 21 by running his record label, Def Jam, out of his college dorm at New York University.

(2) He once had ownership in a professional wrestling circuit in the southern States.

(3) He doesn’t like to fly because he’s afraid that cosmic rays at that altitude will affect his hearing. (

4) Before he got into music, he was into magic. He even thought about being a magician.

And (5), Rick is big into a form of mediation called Vipassana. He helps with stress spasms in his neck.
