Ongoing History Daily: Some strange record shop robberies

You know vinyl is a big deal when you hear a story like this. Back in November and December 2023, there was a strange crime spree in Chicago. A well-organized group of shoplifters targeted a number of record stores that specialized in rare records.

A typical operation involved one member of the gang distracting the owner while his partners took records right off the racks. One owner was maced when he tried to stop the gang from running away without paying. A shop called Meteor Gem had to deal with a nighttime break-in that saw the theft of $10,000 worth of rare metal records, much of it from the Chinese underground metal scene.

One question: Where do you fence 10 grand worth of Chinese death metal records?
