Ongoing History of New Music

Ongoing History Daily: Stressed? Here’s how music can help.

Everyone knows that music can help regulate your mood.  It can get you pumped up and inspired–or it can be used to make you relaxed and calm.  Psychologist Sharon Heller has a book called Too Loud, Too Bright, Too Fast, Too Tight and she has some tips for people who want to use music to power down.

Basically, you need to find music that is synchronized to your body’s natural rhythms, especially your heartbeat.  She recommends that you find music that runs anywhere from 60 to 70 beats per minute, which is the same as your heartbeat.
