Ongoing History Daily: Sum 41 facts

A fan of Sum 41? Did you know the following?

(1) Leader Deryck Whibley is a really, really good basketball player. He was the captain of his high school team and once thought he had a shot at being in the NBA despite his height. For the record, he’s 5-5.

(2) If you’re a fan of the Sum 41, you’re part of a community known as The Goons.

(3) The reason the band is called “Sum 41” is because they were formed 41 days into the summer of 1996.

And (4) the first-ever Sum song was entitled “Five-O Grind.” They were minding their own business skateboarding but kept getting hassled by a security guard. Their second song was called “I Love Meat.” There. Don’t you feel better?
