Ongoing History Daily: The youngest artist to release a solo album

Here’s an interesting question: Who is the youngest artist to release a full solo album?

There are a lot of child singers who had albums. Billie Joe Armstrong released a 7-inch at age five.

Bjork wasn’t even a teen when she released her debut back in 1977. But that’s ancient compared to Murakata Nonoka who also goes by the name Nono-chan.

In 2022, she was recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the “Youngest Solo Artist to Release an Album.” Murakata was born on May 31, 2018. She recorded an album full of nursery rhymes entitled Nono-chan 2 Years Old Children’s Songs. It hit stores when she was just age of 2 years and 361 days old. Her big hit is a song called “Dog Policeman” although another tack called “Omocha No Cha Cha Cha” also brings the house down. And what were you doing at age 2?
