Ongoing History Daily: Would you like a Ph.D. in EDM?

Thinking of going back to school? Here’s an option. Maybe.

The department of music and design arts at the University of Huddlesfield in the UK has a new course in “electronic music, cultures, and production.”

Created by techno pioneer Richie Hawtin, the course involves the study of recordings and performances of techno, house, trance, hip hop, dubstep, drum’n’bass, industrial, ambient, and every other related genre you care to name. I should also point out that this is study at the Ph.D. level.

The first class is this September.
