Ongoing History of New Music

The Ongoing History of New Music, Encore Broadcast: The World of Rock’n’Roll Managers

During the two week Christmas break, we’re going to break out some shows from the vast Ongoing History archive. This week, it’s a show on the people who run (or try to run) the business side of the music business: the managers, svengalis and impresarios.

The program covers people such as Susan Silver (Soundgarden, Chris Cornell), Malcolm McLaren (Sex Pistols) and features a rare interview with Paul McGuinness (U2).

The Ongoing History of New Music can be heard on the following stations:

The show is coming soon to Ottawa, Halifax, Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Victoria and Kingston, so stand by. And if you think your local station should carry the show, lemme know, okay?

  • Any way I can get my hands on the recording of ENCORE: Managers, Svengalis and Impressarios aired recently for History of New Music?

I work at Canadian Federation of Musicians and wanted to be more informed on this.

    • Not yet. It’s a long story, but licensing issues prevent us from making recordings available. We are, however, working on something.
