Ontario wants to kick 2020 out — With Love

What do you do when it’s the end of the worst year in our collective memory and you can’t go out to celebrate?

Bring the party inside.

From Ontario With Love: A Celebration of Hope is providing just that: a 90-minute concert featuring some of the province’s best and most beloved musicians to kick 2020 out the door and welcome in 2021 with optimism and open hearts.

Performing will be Avril Lavigne, AllyDice, Barenaked Ladies, Broadway star Chilina Kennedy, CZN, Divine Brown, Jully Black, Measha Brueggergosman, LOONY, Loud Luxury, NOTIFI, Roy Woods, Ryhan Douglas, Sean Jones, Steele, The Tenors, Wali Shah, The Halluci Nation (formerly A Tribe Called Red), America’s Got Talent finalist Roberta Battaglia and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.

And yes — there will be fireworks at midnight!

The festivities will be hosted by Andrew Phung of Kim’s Convenience, along with Arisa Cox, and will take place at the Windsor Capitol Theatre to help usher in the venue’s 100th birthday.

Producer Jeffrey Latimer says it has been an honour to work with a crew that includes director Barry Avrich, producer JL Entertainment and creative director Farley Flex.

All filmed segments were taped observing strict COVID-19 safety protocols and in accordance with all Ontario regulatory and public health requirements.

The show will be broadcast on TVO and will stream simultaneously on TVO’s Facebook and YouTube page starting at 10:30 p.m. and running up to the stroke of midnight to say good riddance to 2020 and welcome 20201 with open arms. More information is available here, along with a little preview of the festivities.
