OTT Rock Band Wanted for “Rock-Action” Video Game

This drifted into my LinkedIn account yesterday. Anyone (or anyone you know) interested?

WANTED: Bands for Commercial Video Game Opportunity

We are searching for a talented rock group to partner with us on an exciting, rhythm-based combat game under the working title: Rock Gods. The ideal bands will understand epic rock in the vein of The Darkness or Steel Panther, and will be willing to work in collaboration with our team on a rock-action video game. They do not need to be a hard rock band, but they do need to rock – hard

In Rock Gods, players enter a world of epic turmoil where rock music has magical properties. Teaming up with bandmates, they use their music powers to defeat monsters, get sweet gear, become famous, and fight even more epic monsters. Combat in Rock Gods is rhythm-focused, where players gain bonuses to their attacks/counters by pressing the buttons on the beats. The goal is to keep your combo meter going without being hit or missing a beat – so the music is a HUGE part of this game.

We are looking for bands prepared to create new music for the game, which will have a specifically satirical tone that pays tribute to rock and roll tropes – it’s not quite a parody, but tongue-in-cheek similar to Brutal Legend, Spinal Tap, and Tenacious D.

NOTE that selected bands will retain IP rights to all music created for the game; while songs will be ‘licensed’ for use in Rock Gods and associated promotions, the bands will retain the rights to produce, perform and distribute their music on their own. This is an ideal partnership, where the bands can benefit from the marketing and promotion of a commercial video game featuring their music (and potentially the band members themselves, depending on creative around character avatars).

Interested bands can reply directly or through their management/production representatives, to [email protected] with a link to their bio and music, before Friday October 20th.
