Ottawa Bluesfest Announces 2017 Lineup

The closer we get to the summer, more and more music festivals begin to announce their summer lineups. For Canada’s 150th anniversary, Ottawa’s RBC Bluesfest has announced one of their best line ups ever. As always, Bluesfest includes a wide range of artists from various genres, not just limited to blues.

Confirmed artists include: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, Toby Keith, 50 Cent, P!nk, LCD Soundsystem, The Shins, July Talk, Death From Above 1979, Sam Roberts Band, and many, many more.

The festival runs for 10 days from July 6 to 16 at LeBreton Flats in Ottawa.

  • For an alt rock rock fan, this is one of the weakest Bluesfest lineups in recent years. I bought a pass anyway and will be happy to see Muse, Live, The Shins and a few others. Seems like a lot of Country and Hip Hop this year…

    • Then you probably don’t want to look at Osheaga’s lineup…

  • A much better line-up than the last few years, there’s a decent blend of rock headliners and some good established Canadian acts. And while their headliner formula is still essentially the same (1 Country + 1 Rock + 1 Classic Rock + 1 Pop), at least the Classic Rock act is someone who has produced quality material in the last 20 years, unlike other years.
I’m much happier with this than the lineup that was announced for Osheaga. I know there are still headliners to be named, but it seems like the pendulum has swung way back from last year, and alt/indie rock bands with any pedigree are fairly rare. Some intriguing up-and-comers, but otherwise it’s pretty bare.
