Ottawa has two summer music festivals every year. July has Bluesfest, but closing out the summer is Ottawa CityFolk Festival. And like Bluesfest, the musical genres have evolved much more than the folk name implies.

Early on Tuesday morning CityFolk announced their 2025 lineup. This year’s five headliners are from the alt-rock, pop, and folk-rock genres. In order, the main stage headliners are: Alex Warren, Melissa Etheridge and Indigo Girls, Morrissey, The Pogues, and Down With Webster.

And there is significant alt-rock depth this year including Dropkick Murphys, Junkhouse, James, and USS who are getting back together for a few festival concerts this summer.

“It’s a great time of year to stage an event,” says CityFolk executive and artistic director Mark Monahan. “People are always up for one last chance to enjoy some great music under the stars, and the musicians always seem ready for more outdoor gigs before heading back to the indoor concert scene.”

CityFolk will be staged on The Great Lawn at Lansdowne Park in Ottawa, from Wednesday, 10 September to Sunday, 14 September. The site is fully licensed.
