Ottawa Small Business Campaign Features Fans’ Favourite Hip Lyrics on Windows

With Gord Downie’s terminal cancer so public, Tragically Hip fans are really coming together as a community and creating some amazing things. A couple of things I have written about include the Dear Gord website and the call to bring a white hanky to Tuesday’s (August 16) Hamilton concert. Today we received an email from Patrick McCurdy in Ottawa whose wife is doing yet another great thing to show support for Gord and the Hip.

McCurdy’s wife runs her own shop in the capital and invites fans to write their favourite Hip lyric on her shop’s window to show the band support and to help raise money for Gord Downie’s fund at Sunnybrook. She painted the shop windows and already some fans have dropped off some lyrics. (G0 here to see what’s happening at her website.)

You don’t even have to live in Ottawa to participate. Write out your favourite lyric by hand, snap a picture, and tweet it to @MalenkaKatrina to get your lyric on the window. Their goal is 500 lyrics.
