We’re well into February. How are things looking for Canadian music sales and streams now that we’re at almost the one year anniversary of COVID? Let’s start with the year-over-year figures courtesy Nielsen/MCR.

  • Total album sales, -30.4%
  • CD sales, -52.5%
  • Digital albums, -20.8%
  • Digital tracks, -26.6%
  • Vinyl LPs, +19.6%
  • On-demand audio streams, +9.7%

Now here’s what happened week-over-week:

  • Total album sales, -1.1%
  • CD sales, -3.6%
  • Digital albums, -1.2%
  • Digital tracks, -0.1%
  • Vinyl LPs, +3.1%
  • On-demand audio streams, +2.4% (1.789 billion streams in the country last week)
