Ozzy Osbourne has died. This is not a drill. He’s gone.

A couple of weeks or so after his farewell show with Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne has died. We all knew he was very ill–Parkinson’s, problems from surgeries, and more–but we didn’t know it was this bad. I mean, it was just earlier this month that he performed in front of all those people. There were concerns before that show that he might not be well enough, but he made it through. Whatever happened to his health must have been pretty serious.

Ozzy had been written off countless times because of all his crazy behavior. News organizations have had dozens of versions of his obituary ready over the years, but they’ve never been needed until now.

A statement from the family reads: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning. He was with his family and surrounded by love.”

Just hours before he died, Ozzy posted a message on Instagram. It’s a backstage photo from the dressing room at the Back to the Beginning show. It reads “Back to the Beginning. The Final Show.”

He was 76. More details as they become available.
