These People Give Social Media a Bad Name: Trump Supporters Go After the Wrong Hamilton.

You’ve no doubt heard by now about the kerfluffle created when the cast of Hamilton, the musical based on an era in American history playing at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in New York, called out VP-elect Mike Pence at the end of Friday’s performance. While Pence was nonplussed, The Donald proved once again that it’s easy to get under his skin enough for him to lash out like the wannabe demagogue he is. Trump supporters also piled on.

However, Hamilton, the musical, is being confused with Hamilton, the Ontario city.

On McNab Street North, there’s the Hamilton Theatre Inc. They’re currently staging a production of The Toxic Avenger and suddenly found their Twitter account lit up. The trouble is that Trump people were going after the wrong Hamilton.

The Twitter account for the New York production is @HamiltonMusical while the account for The Toxic Avenger folks is @HamiltonTheatre. Apparently, a fair number of Trumpites didn’t fact check the target of their ire.
