Philippine Police Successfully Weaponize Katy Perry. And Then They Went for the Nuclear Option.

Crowds got a little unruly at this week’s Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit in Manila as leaders from 21 countries tried to hash out more trade deals. Anti-globilization and anti-free trade protesters got in the face of security forces with their anger over increasing influence and power of international corporations.

The usual tactics were used against the APEC protesters: cops with riot shields, water cannons, swinging batons and smoke bombs. But they also brought out the heavy artillery. That included Katy Perry.

The 2,000 or so people at one protest were pummelled by Katy Perry’s “Roar” and “Sexy Bitch” from David Guetta on big speakers. “My Girl” from the Temptations has launched. And when that didn’t work, they went nuclear with this one.

Wow. That’s harsh. Could this be considered a flagrant abuse of human rights? A war crime?
