Pink Floyd’s David Gilmour is auctioning off more than 100 guitars for charity. Want in?

David Gilmour apparently needs to de-clutter. This summer, he’s going to auction off somewhere beyond 100 guitars to raise money for charity.

One particular guitar is of great interest: his famous highly modified Black Strat, the guitar he used on Dark Side of the Moon and countless other recordings. This Strat is so famous that there’s even a book about it.

Other items included a white Strat from around 1954 (serial number 0001) that was used on “Another Brick in the Wall (Part 2).” Like the Black Strat, it’s expected to sell for between $100,000 and $150,000 US. It is worth pointing out, though, that the auction catalogue features guitars with a guide price of $300.

The auction will take place through Christie’s auction house on June 20 in New York. (More news at Rolling Stone. And thanks to Walter for the video link.)
