Prince Now Has his Own Colour. It’s a Shade of Purple, Of Course.

There is now an official shade of purple that will be forever linked to Prince. The Pantone Colour Institute, the company that basically acts as the colour police for the planet, have unveiled a shade of purple in honour of, er, The Purple One. Take a look.

The above colour will forever be known as “Love Symbol #2,” which is English for that glyphy thing that Prince used in place of a name back in the 90s.

Some people have asteroids and animal species named after them. Prince gets his own colour.

I can’t for people to start torturing the poor guy at the paint counter at Home Depot.

While we’re on the subject, what other musician deserves their own colour? And what would you call it? Here are some thought-starters:

  • Simply Red (It names itself)
  • Man in Black Black (Johnny Cash)
  • P!NK Pink (or Floyd Pink)
  • Coldplay Yellow (or Pearl Jam’s Ledbetter Yellow)
  • Electric Blue (Icehouse)
