How the Pro Audio Industry is Involved in the Sochi Games

Behind able to hear what’s going on with all the events of an Olympic Games is not only important for television, but it’s also important for the crowds that gather to watch in person.  PSN Europe, a pro audio newsletter, takes this look at what’s being used in Sochi.

The 2014 Winter Olympics commenced last week Friday, with a grand opening ceremony in the Russian city of Sochi. An event of this scale means big business for the pro audio industry and PSNEurope will be reporting on what we can. But, as per the London Games in 2012, details of brands and manufacturers facilitating the sound of Sochi are fairly scarce. What we do know so far, we will share with you here.

Mediagroup has announced that Stagetec and Delec equipment will be deployed at the event. Stagetec’s Aurus, Auratus and Crescendo mixing consoles, Nexus audio network equipment and Delec commentary systems will be featured in the newly built stadiums, OB trucks of participating broadcasters as well as in a major installation for Swiss broadcaster SRG SSR.
