Cool!

Psy’s “Gangnam Style” Just Broke YouTube’s View Counter

It’s official: Psy has broken the Internet. Well, at least a portion of YouTube’s infrastructure.

“Gangnam Style” has been viewed so many times that it broke YouTube’s view counter. The company had this to say on Google Plus:

We never thought a video would be watched in numbers greater than a 32-bit integer (=2,147,483,647 views), but that was before we met PSY. “Gangnam Style” has been viewed so many times we had to upgrade to a 64-bit integer (9,223,372,036,854,775,808)!

If you would like to push YouTube to the next breaking point, just take another look at the video. Extrapolating things forward, that should happen in five to seven years.
