Radio for Facebook

Why do I have the feeling the next great play for Facebook is in the music arena?  I’m sure we’ll hear more with the upcoming f8 conference.  Meanwhile, an app called Radioplayer has been introduced.  Facebook users can now share their favourite radio listening amongst 250 available stations.

From MusicWeek:

The new app will enable millions of people on the social networking site to share their radio listening and engage in chat about radio programmes.

The app makes it easy to listen to UK Radio from within Facebook, share favourite stations and programmes with friends and see what other people locally have been listening to.

There are now more than 250 stations in Radioplayer, most of which have a presence on Facebook. They will be invited to promote and embrace the new Facebook Radioplayer app.

Radioplayer managing director Michael Hill said,: “Less than six months ago, we put ‘UK Radio in one place’ on your computer. Now we’re showing 30m UK Facebook users that radio is a perfect companion, while you’re chatting with friends”.
